Objective of the Workshop:
The objective of the workshop is to equip the participants with a technical know-how on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Applications in Electrical Engineering. Artificial intelligence (AI) is to design a system capable of thinking for itself just like humans do. Machine learning is a branch of AI which focuses on the use of data and algorithms to imitate the way that humans learn, gradually improving its accuracy. AI applications in power systems mainly include implementing expert systems. It can reduce the workload of
human operators in power plants by taking on tasks in data processing, routine maintenance, training and schedule optimization. Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning
applications in Electrical Engineering include use of Expert systems and Genetic Algorithms in Power Systems, AI Systems in Transmission Line etc.,

About Department:
The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering was established in the year 2010 with an intake of 60. Department is well equipped with modernized Electrical Machines Lab, Control and Instrumentation Lab, Electronic Devices and Circuits Lab, Power Electronics Lab, Power System Simulation Lab, Renewable Energy Technology Lab, Engineering Practices Lab and Projects Lab. CoE in IoT & Embedded Systems Lab and Centre for Technology Transfer and Product Development has been set up for providing the practical exposure. Students have been placed in various MNCs such as TCS, CTS and WIPRO. The department has filed 23 patents and 10 industrial designs for product development in which five patents were granted. The department has received various funds from NABARD, EDII, MSME, CSIR, ICSSR, TNSCST and Niral Thiruvizha. AICTE, New Delhi sanctioned a FDP and STTP grant. Received institute level fourth rank and third rank at the National Convention of Utkrisht Sansthan ‘Vishwakarma Awards 2019’ in 2020 at AICTE. “Best Innovator Award” from ICAR-NRCB, Trichy and Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA), MoE, Govt of India for developing five villages towards technological intervention /solution and customization.
