OBJECTIVE

              Dear viewers KONGU ENGINEERING COLLEGE condcuting national seminar. The main objective of the seminar is to provide a platform for academicians, scientists, technologists, economists from academia, government and the industries to have healthy, constructive and professional discussions on tapping solar energy to its maximum potential and to make solar power more accessible to the common man by finding novel high performance materials which will lead to the design of high efficiency low-cost solar cells.

The seminar will mainly emphasize the following themes.

• Basic processes involved in energy conversion usingsolar cells such as absorption of photon and subsequent diffusion, separation and collection of charge carriers.
• Viable solar cell materials and their comparative production status.
• New ideas to enhance the efficiency of solar cells.

TOPICS TO BE DISCUSSED

• Dye, semiconductor and quantum dot sensitized solar cells
• Earth abundant and non-toxic solar cell materials
• Nanostructured transparent conductors using earth abundant materials for solar cells
• Generation of solar cells and low cost solar cells – An overview
