Event Start Date: 07-07-2025
Event End Date: 18-07-2025
Event Organizing Department: Department of Civil Engineering
About Event:
A vital part of contemporary development initiatives aiming at building robust, environmentally friendly, and socially just infrastructure systems is sustainable infrastructure monitoring. It entails the ongoing evaluation and management of infrastructure assets to guarantee that they minimize negative environmental
effects while meeting the demands of present and future generations. Incorporating AI-inspired machine learning for sustainable infrastructure monitoring is a paradigm change in how we handle the maintenance and oversight of essential systems. The need for infrastructure solutions that are not just reliable and effective but also resilient and sustainable is growing as the world’s population rises, urbanization picks up speed, and environmental problems worsen. We can maximize asset performance, anticipate possible failures, and reduce risks by incorporating AI-inspired machine-learning techniques into infrastructure monitoring procedures. This will minimize environmental impact and foster long-term sustainability. The goal of this course is to provide participants with the information and abilities needed to monitor and manage infrastructure projects using cutting-edge AI techniques. The course is called Sustainable Infrastructure Monitoring with AI-Inspired Machine Learning. The need for sustainable infrastructure solutions is developing in the quickly changing modern world, and machine learning with an AI influence provides effective tools to improve the durability, resilience, and efficiency of infrastructure systems. Hence, to expose Indian engineers and scientists to these aspects and to train them to serve the Indian industry to be globally competitive, this course focuses on some multidisciplinary scientific aspects of AI and infrastructure monitoring.

Institution Address:
Indian Institute of Technology (BHU),
Hindu University Campus,
Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh 221005.
About Institution:
The institute completed its 100 years in 2019, and we wish to take forward the legacy with rejuvenated vigor and sheer dedication with a commitment to nation building. The Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University) Varanasi owes its existence to Bharat Ratna Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya, the founder of the first residential University of modern India, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), who could foresee the vital role of technical education in strengthening independent India. Engineering education in BHU started in 1919 with the establishment of Banaras Engineering College (BENCO). The next stage of development saw the establishment of College of Technology (TECHNO) and College of Mining & Metallurgy (MINMET). In 1968, the erstwhile engineering colleges of BHU, namely BENCO, MINMET, and TECHNO, were merged to form the Institute of Technology (IT-BHU). IT-BHU had been admitting students through the JEE conducted by the IITs since 1972. The erstwhile IT-BHU was ranked consistently amongst the top engineering institutions of the country. IT-BHU became IIT (BHU) Varanasi on June 29, 2012, by an Act of Parliament. Following its conversion to IIT, the Institute has quickly established procedures and practices as per the standards of IITs.
About Department:
The Civil Engineering Department was established in 1949 (then known as Civil and Municipal Engineering) in BENCO (Banaras Engineering College) which was a part of BHU. The formal sanction of the Visitor of the University to create this Dept. was received in 1956 and the B.Sc Engineering (Civil & Municipal) Degree was recognized by the Govt. of India in 1958. The department was rechristened to the present name in the year 1975. Presently, it caters its student with various Post Graduate courses like Environmental Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering, Structural Engineering, and Transportation Engineering. The department has taken up various research programmes apart from regular teachings and the research activities, namely CSIR, UGC, SAP, HUDCO, DST and AICTE. It has a created cooperation with industries to work for the various tasks given by Govt., Semi-Govt. and other Private organisations. It is particularly dedicating in providing solutions to the people of the country with technical solutions and guidelines. It conducts short-term courses, training courses, seminars, workshops and conferences for enrichment in quality of students and entrepreneurs. The department has its own Civil Engineering Society which is dedicated in organising lectures by various experts in their respective field, group discussions, competitions, sports and various other extra-curricular and cultural activities so that there would be an holistic all round development of students. Also this society conducts a separate fest for the Civil Engineering Students, known as, Shilp.
