About Institution:
Raja Bahadur Venkata Rama Reddy Women’s College is one of the oldest and most reputed women’s colleges of Hyderabad, established in the year 1954 by the Hyderabad Mahila Vidya Sangham (HMVS). With the vision of empowering women through quality education, the very college stands as a testimony to the vision of Sri Raja Bahadur Venkata Rama Reddy, who was the Kotwal (Commissioner of Police) of the erstwhile Hyderabad State, a firm believer in the fact that modern education was the way to empower women. The college has had the rare honour of hosting several distinguished national leaders: Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, India’s first Prime Minister, laid the Foundation Stone on 3rd January 1954; Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, the then President of India, inaugurated the college building on 6th January 1955; and Smt. Indira Gandhi, the then Prime Minister, inaugurated the Hostel Building on 28th July 1965. The Golden Jubilee Celebrations in 2004–05 were graced by the then President of India, Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, at the Valedictory function. College operates, in the spirit of its founding values, at the forefront of providing quality education to women, particularly from socially and economically disadvantaged backgrounds of the state, thus continuing in its tradition of academic excellence and empowerment.
About Department:
The Department of Computer Science, founded in 1989 offering UG Programs and in the year 1994 introduced PG Programs. The department, with 8 fully furnished labs and a group of qualified, specialized faculty, embraces modern teaching methodologies, especially those supported by information and communication technology (ICT). The syllabus is being continually updated to keep pace with changing trends of the industry, ensuring the students are industry-ready. In addition to the core syllabus, the department offers SEC, GE, and value-added certificate courses. Teaching goes beyond academics to orient students towards real-world applications through IEEE seminars, mini projects, real-time major projects, and internships in the industry. Emphasis is also placed on communication and soft skills and employability. Stronger collaborations with industry add strength to the practical learning imparted. The department takes an active role in support of both curricular and co-curricular development aiming at quality education that nurtures academic excellence, research aptitude, and professional competence.
