About the Institution:

Parala Maharaja Engineering College (PMEC), Berhampur came into existence in the year 2009 on April 26th, with an area of nearly 80 acres. Now this college acts as an Autonomous college affiliated to BPUT, Odisha, from the year 2021. This college is one of the premier technical institutes in the state and is the only Govt. Engineering college in South Odisha. It has 8 B.Tech programmes and 5 M.Tech programmes. ย Also, it is a Nodal Center of Research under BPUT to conduct Ph.D. programmes. The main objective of the institution is to produce quality technocrats in various streams.

Government of Odisha has recognized this institution as a leading institution of repute and has a plan to develop it as a centre of excellence under plan funding. At present, the campus consists of an institutional academic block, a central library, two workshop blocks, labs, halls of residence, playgrounds, a bank, a canteen, a utility block etc. As the architectural plan suggests, three more academic blocks, halls of residence, staff quarters, world-class auditoria, parks, and playgrounds will be developed in subsequent phases of construction. The Silk City-Berhampur is located on the eastern coastline of Odisha. It is one of the oldest cities of the state, famous for its silk works, temples, and culture. The city which is declared as a municipal corporation is well-connected by roads and rails to all parts of India.

About the Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering:

The department ofย Electronics and Telecommunication Engineeringย is established in the year of 2013 with an intake of 60 students. The faculties of the department have expertise in various emerging fields of Communication systems, Image and signal processing, VLSI and Embedded systems, etc. The students are trained to take responsibility for enhancing the performance of the telecommunication systems with new ideas and managerial skills.

Some of the courses offered under this programme to make students industry-ready include analog and digital logic circuits, transmission lines and wave guides, concept of pipelining and parallel processing, audio/video electronics & broadcasting, Antenna and Wave propagation, Microwave Engineering, VLSI design and lots more. All these courses are reinforced by state-of-the-art laboratory facilities. Recently, the department has received a grant of 65.19 Lakhs from MeitY, Govt. of India under the Chip-to-startup (C2S) scheme, getting it equipped with all industry-standard EDA tools and FPGA boards. Graduates of the department get to work with several MNCs in both IT and Core domains.

About the Department of Electrical Engineering

Electrical Engineering formulates the basis of most modern applied technologies. It nurtures fundamental science over the expansions in to Electrical Instrumentation, Control, Power Electronics, Renewables, Smart systems, Electric Automobiles, Avionics, Bio-Medical Instrumentation etc. In Electrical engineering, the horizon is the limit. This department was founded in the year 2009. Since then, the department has come a long way with lateral expansions. Presently, the student intake capacity in B.Tech program is 120, and the Post Graduate program in Power Systems is 18.

The department focuses on utilizing its resources to craft creative minds for searching for solutions to the real-world problems. To emerge as a nationally recognised centre of excellence for professional education in Electrical Engineering by imparting quality education towards the holistic development of students, with emphasis on academics, research and technological services for the betterment of society.
