About Institution:

The Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology (SMIT), a constituent college of Sikkim Manipal University, is located on the banks of the river Teesta, amidst lush green hills in the state of Sikkim, India. Established in 1997, SMIT is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The institute earned the distinction of prestigious accreditation for its engineering disciplines from the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) via ACCR-860/06, dated January 22, 2008. Additionally, SMIT holds ISO 9001 certification (NS-EN ISO 9001:2008) for all its courses. The engineering college has its own dedicated campus at Majitar, Rangpo, in East Sikkim. Established in the year 1997, Department of Mechanical Engineering has traversed the path of knowledge dissemination and generation for more than two decades. The department takes pride in grooming over 2000 Mechanical Engineering graduates to serve the nation and globally. Over these glorious years of its journey, it has carved a niche for itself in the key areas of teaching, research, entrepreneurship, administration and community service. The Department gives priority to update the curriculum primarily driven by the dynamics of technological advances and sustainable development on a continuous basis with active involvement of industry, academia, alumni, research organizations and other stakeholders.
